They meet once a week for practice and attend the basketball games to cheer on the Lummis team. They also perform during pep rallies, flag ceremony and other school functions to promote school spirit. This club is designed to introduce the children to being on a cheerleading squad in preparation for middle school and to have fun!

Student Leadership Team
Description: The Student Leadership Team is a wonderful opportunity for 5th grade Lummis students to demonstrate the values and characteristics that are instilled throughout the years as Lummis students. The student leaders assist the younger children in the lunchroom by providing condiments and helping to open lunches and water bottles. Student leaders also serve as ambassadors of our school. They greet our guests and guide them to their destinations within the campus. At the end of each school year the student leaders escort our graduating kindergarten classes throughout the building and playgrounds while explaining rules and procedures that will aide these younger students as 1st graders. The student leadership team is a fun and exciting way to bring the Lummis experience to a close.

Student Leaders are selected and trained at the beginning of the school year and must adhere to a work schedule to gain credit for their year of service.

Garden Club
Description: We are growing tomatoes, squash, artichokes, peas, and sunflowers. We even started a bean teepee in the back circle garden. We are waiting for the bean plants to
spread and twist all the way to the top! Whether your thumb is green or brown, there's always room to grow.

These students devote their lunch recess to assist in the smooth operation of the cafeteria. In addition to food handling these students contribute to the housekeeping of the kitchen. The lunchroom helpers are truly a valuable asset to the Lummis staff and students. The helpers are selected and trained at the beginning of the school year and must adhere to a work schedule to gain credit for their year of service.

Everyone Needs A Little Drama
Description:
Yes, Lummis has Drama! The good kind too. We have a wonderful group of 44 children who participate in two drama productions each year. In the past two years we have done Shimmering Star Search, a musical production based on American Idol with a Christmas twist, The Wizard of Oz and A Christmas Carol.
This spring we are producing a play called Lummisville. It is based on the teachings of Dr. Seuss and our amazing community here at Lummis. The kids have added their own dramatic flair and comedy twist with many compliments to the dedicated teachers and staff we have at Lummis.
Drama is an amazing tool for comprehension, fluency and most of all expression. It gives voice to children who are shy and an outlet for those children who constantly are thinking out of the box and using their imagination.
We hold Drama Club auditions in the fall. It is a year long club that is held after school.  When we are not in production we are learning games and skills for thinking on our feet.
